Online Health and Safety courses free
This is a one-year, part-time multi-disciplinary Certificate course. The Certificate course is intended for managers, supervisors, safety representatives and others who have some responsibility for safety and health at work or those with an interest in safety and health in the workplace. The course is an introduction to all aspects of safety and health at work. This is a blended learning course, delivered in a combination of online and face-to-face formats, with comprehensive learning materials. It is delivered between September and May.
This course is an introduction to a comprehensive range of topics relating to safety and health in the workplace including: legislation; risk and safety management; identification of physical, chemical, psycho-social, and ergonomic hazards; occupational health hazard management and occupational safety hazard management.
Lectures are given by leading experts in each topic, from various Schools and Colleges within UCD and other universities, the Irish Health and Safety Authority and public and private sector industries.
What will I study?
The course is arranged in four modules:
- Principles of Occupational Safety and Health
- Occupational Health Hazard Management
- Occupational Safety Hazard Management
- Occupational Safety and Health Project*
*This module is undertaken in the student’s own time, with comprehensive text support from UCD.
How will I study?
Learning takes place through an engaging blend of asynchronous online lectures, attendance on campus for tutorials, and online interaction activities. The online lectures are made available weekly and are supported by pre-lecture and post-lecture learning activities. Students can submit questions online following each lecture and take part in online discussion. E-Lectures are also available to students, with a navigation aide system, to enhance their study skills.
Each module is assessed by assignment and/or by examination or in-class tests. Students who successfully complete the requirements of all modules will be awarded a Certificate.
