Certified Training courses

The Secretary of State’s office offers comprehensive on-line training, Notary 101 – The Basics. This eLearning opportunity is designed exclusively for Montana notary applicants and has been updated to reflect the changes enacted by the 2015 Legislature. This course covers the laws, rules, ethics, and best practices that new notary applicants must know in order to successfully pass the Montana Notary Public Examination. It is also an excellent review for current notaries. There is no charge for this course.

Notary 101 - The Basics

A basic and refresher course for Montana notaries public. This course fulfills the training requirements for new notary applicants, and provides an in-depth review of the duties and responsibilities of the office for existing notaries. The presentation will cover the types of notarial acts permitted by Montana law, instruction in how to properly complete most notarial blocks, how to identify signers for notarial purposes, and how to complete the required journal entries. Questions and class discussion are welcome and encouraged.
